Ophthalmologist job in Sharjah Full Time

We’re looking for a dedicated Ophthalmologist to join our medical team in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This role involves providing top-notch eye care, from thorough examinations to determining and executing treatment plans. You’ll be engaging directly with patients and their families, explaining conditions and treatments, and ensuring they understand the expected outcomes and any potential risks.

Key Duties of Ophthalmologis:

• Conduct detailed eye exams and create treatment strategies.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families about eye health, treatment plans, and possible outcomes.
•  Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
•  Manage lab and X-ray results, informing patients and initiating follow-up care.
•  Maintain detailed and confidential medical records.
•  Perform both scheduled and emergency surgeries within a general ophthalmologist’s range.
•  Provide on-call support for emergencies according to the schedule.
•  Carry out outpatient procedures like pterygium excision and chalazion drainage.
•  Apply YAG and Argon laser therapies.
•  Offer consultative support to other medical professionals.
•  Make referrals to other specialists when necessary.
•  Contribute to medical conferences and staff meetings, offering insights on challenging cases.
•  Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
•  Stay updated with the medical organization’s policies and procedures.
•  Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Medical Director.

Responsibilities:

•  Uphold the professional standards of an ophthalmologist.
•  Keep patient records confidential and up-to-date.
•  Be available for consultations and collaborations with peers.
•  Participate actively in professional development and organizational meetings.
•  Consult on complex ophthalmology issues with the Health of Ophthalmology department.

Qualifications:

•  A Medical degree with completed internship, board certification, or equivalent from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
•  Active membership in a recognized ophthalmological society in the US or UK.
•  At least 3 years of experience in ophthalmology practice.
•  Proficiency in English, with Arabic skills being a plus.
•  Deep understanding of medical ethics, especially regarding confidentiality.
•  A trustworthy and confident demeanor that earns patient trust.
•  Valid medical license from the country of origin and eligibility for DHA/MOH licensure in the UAE.
