Perisher is actively seeking an experienced Plant Operator for a year-round position, integral to the successful delivery of slopes works and capital programs. This role plays a vital part in supporting operations throughout both summer and winter seasons, employing proficient use of heavy machinery and vehicles for clearing roads and car parking areas. The primary objective is to engage in project works and general slope maintenance through the summer months, joining a seasonal department in winter where your experience as an operator is of greatest impact.

In this role, you will:

• Operate plant and equipment including cranes, loaders, bulldozers, telescopic material handlers, excavators, rock drills, rock crushers, tractors, forklifts and trucks as required.
• Ensure equipment is operated and tasks completed in line with regulations, codes of practice, SOP’s and operating instructions.
• Maintain roads, site excavation, quarry work (rock crushing), snow clearing, building construction and maintenance.
• Clear snow from designated areas
• Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events
• Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment
• Perform basic maintenance and small repairs on vehicles and equipment as required
• Operate a grooming machine in winter

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Unrestricted Heavy Rigid license
• Certifications for earthmoving equipment including excavators and backhoes
• Experience operating a range of heavy machinery including excavators
• Understanding of snow its conditions and its effect on equipment
• Knowledge of, or experience in ski resort operations and the Alpine environment will be highly regarded
