The State of Minnesota is seeking a skilled general repair worker to join their team in Brainerd, MN, USA. The general repair worker will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks across state-owned facilities. Responsibilities of General Repair Worker:

• Repairing and maintaining building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Performing carpentry work, such as repairing doors, windows, and furniture.
• Painting and patching walls and ceilings.
• Assisting with snow removal and landscaping duties.
• Responding to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Repair and maintenance of grounds equipment.
• Repair, and maintenance of, and/or assisting building interiors and exteriors including painting, basic masonry, basic carpentry, flooring, wall tile, and sheet rock repair.
• Perform grounds keeping including grass mowing, simple landscaping, and snow removal from streets and sidewalks.
• Use of medium duty construction equipment such as skid loaders, tractors, backhoes, and snowplows.
• As needed, assist with general cleaning of common spaces, toilets, and showers, emptying trash, making beds, and other general cleaning duties.

Requirements for Job:

• This position requires a valid Class D Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools, and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.
• Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending.
• Experience with lawn care including the ability to operate all types of lawn care equipment.
• Experience with snow plowing including the ability to operate small tractors, plow trucks, snow blowers and front-end loaders.
• Skills and abilities necessary to fabricate, install, remove, repair, and select proper materials to perform various maintenance, repair, and construction.
