General Worker Job at Sunrise Farms in Canada Full Time

Sunrise Farms is a group of companies with primary focus in the poultry industry. They are proud of their support of the Canadian farm as well as our investment in the latest equipment and technologies at their facilities across Canada. They are actively looking for a general worker to become a part of their dedicated farm team in Canada. This role entails supporting a variety of tasks within the farm premises, such as cleaning, maintenance, and general labor duties.

Responsibilities of General Worker:

  • Meet company housekeeping standards with “first in, first out” rotation of product.
  • Work with knives to trim product according to specifications.
  • Accurate daily updates of inventory lists.
  • Work with different machines such as Individual Quick Freeze machine.
  • Ensure proper weights and labels, as per customer specifications.
  • Labels and packages products according to the Company and customer’s requirements.
  • Move product and supplies using a pallet jack.
  • Maintain speed and accuracy of the line for any given SKU.
  • Identify & Reject products that do not meet standards.
  • Effectively operate and troubleshoot the labeling machine.
  • Clean equipment and work area according to company’s GMP’s and Sanitation procedures.
  • Operate safely, according to the Sunrise Health and Safety Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements of General Worker:

  • Education and/ or Experience – High school diploma preferred; 1 year of related experience and/ or 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment. Pallet Jack and forklift experience is considered an asset. General understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices is considered an asset.
  • Language Skills – Basic English skills are required to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, and verbal communication, etc.  Ability to effectively present information one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand, accurately record perform simple mathematical calculations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one (1) or two (2) step instructions; Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables.
  • Computer Skills – basic knowledge is an asset.
  • Physical Demands – Standing/ walking the entire shift.  Bending, reaching, and climbing stairs at times.  Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs, occasionally lifting over 40 lbs to heights at waist level and moving/ pushing/ pulling 50 – 100lbs with assistance or equipment such as a pallet jack.
  • Work Environment – Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Temperature below 4 degrees Celsius. Continuous and constant noise that is below 80dBA (loud). Hearing protection is recommended and will be provided. Some exposure to airborne particles within allowable limits.
